SUSTAINABLE ENGINEERING
The performance and normal operation of a solar photovoltaic plant largely depends on its proper operation and maintenance.
MGD Energy has developed the right network and special-purpose software to be able to provide its clients with upgraded services.
We have technical maintenance points throughout the Greek territory serving more than 300 PVpower generating plants with a total capacity of more than 250 MW.
These are controlled by the MGD Power Team (project manager and technicians) which monitors even the most remote plant on a 24-hour basis through the special software, MyMGD PV Plants.
Using the same application, our clients can monitor the output of their plants and receive notifications of scheduled maintenance visits round the clock, no matter where they are.
MGD Energy aims to continually upgrade its services by following a transparent process based on international standards and know-how.
The company has been certified to the ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards.

MGD Energy follows best practices for operation & maintenance, based on international protocols. Such protocols stipulate that every PV plant, as part of its operation, must be managed as an asset.
As a result, every asset manager undertakes the management of contracts applying to the solar PV plant and all involved suppliers, while also ensuring that health and safety rules are complied with in every activity related to the project.
The plant is monitored 24 hours a day through the MyMGD PV Plants application. Performance is documented in detail and assessed so that appropriate modifications can be made to ensure maximum efficiency.
Assuring compatibility with the network code, timely scheduling of maintenance and proper spare part management, even ensuring the security of the space, are key factors in the continuous operation of a solar PV park, and part of the service that MGD Energy provides to its clients.
Owners are regularly informed of the performance and status of their PV plants through detailed reports that include both qualitative and quantitative data, as well as through the MyMGD application that keeps them informed in real time wherever they might be.MGD Energy abides by international standards for maintaining solar PV plants and include four main types:
Regular maintenance ensures that every PV system yields the maximum capacity.
The MGD Energy team follows manufacturer guidelines and regularly supervises installations from both an electrical and mechanical aspect, as stipulated in the maintenance agreement.
The recommended plan includes two annual preventive maintenance procedures, about which our clients are informed through the MyMGD PV Plants software.
With technical maintenance points throughout Greece serving more than 200 solar PV plants generating electricity with a total capacity of more than 250 MW, MGD Energy has the infrastructure to resolve any issue, no matter where it occurs. Maximum response time from the initial report of failure is 24 hours.
Predictive maintenance includes regular checks and interventions where needed to avoid future failures that may negatively impact the plant’s performance.
Regular cleaning, repairs, adjustments, corrections and equipment replacement ensure maximum performance without fluctuations.
Clients are informed about predictive maintenance through the MyMGD PV Plants software.
Unscheduled maintenance is useful in cases of emergency where the immediate attention of experts is required to restore the plant’s normal operation. Such maintenance is usually called for after unexpected natural disasters, theft, changes in regulatory conditions or failures in faulty factory equipment.
Cleaning of panel frames and the field is essential to the protection and normal operation of the plant. Accumulated dirt over the course of a year on the solar panels may reduce their performance by up to 30%.
Specially trained MGD Energy teams undertake to regularly clean solar PV panels following established international practices. Cleaning is performed at pre-determined dates, with the client’s consent.
Aside from panel cleaning, it is also essential to clear and apply pest control measures on the field to ensure easy access to the plant, passive fire safety and prevention of unwanted shade from sunlight. The process takes place regularly, depending on the requirements of the project.
The MGD Energy team is responsible for the management of waste and recycling of worn materials.
Clients are informed about any cleaning through the MyMGD PV Plants software.
